Quite often when I'm sitting on the couch reading or knitting, the dog will come and sit at my feet. Now, if my feet were cold, and I wanted her to sit at my feet, she'd be nowhere to be found, but for the most part it's something she likes to do. The trouble is, she moves in close to the couch, out of your eyesight, with the stealth of the best military bomber, so you have no idea she's there until you try to get up and almost step on her. Then of course it's yelps and confusion all around, and I'm sorries and then wagging tails in acceptance of the apologies. It's one of the most maddening and yet one of the nicest things. What gets me is that she does this over and over, even knowing that she's probably going to get stepped on. |

I'm not too into beer or wine but I really love coffee drinks (e.g. Bailey's, Kahlua, White Russians - haven't tried what else is out there though). Is there a place in Seattle that specializes in mixed drinks/cocktails with coffee (if such a place exists)? From what I can tell, coffee drinks are generally on the menu of most places but I wonder if there is a place that specializes in them. I live in Fremont but don't mind going to Capitol Hill or similar. It doesn't have to be a bar, for example a karaoke place or a restaurant is fine. Thanks for any feedback! |

My St. Bernard has been recently diagnosed with bilateral elbow dysplasia. Currently she is being managed with Rimadyl, weight control, and optimizing her glucosamine, chondroitin, and fish oil supplements. Given that she's not quite 3 years old I'm giving serious consideration to arthroscopic surgery on her legs. Since this will not be cheap I want someone with great ortho experience. Anyone with experiences/recommendations of local dog surgeons. Serveral people I work with have dogs with a variety of dog joint issues and had their surgeries performed by Dr. Engen at Puget Sound Animal Hospital for Surgery. All have positive reviews of him. The general concensus seemed to be that he's pretty conservative in his decisions to perform surgery. My own vet refers his patients to Animal Surgery Clinic in Shoreline. I know of one person who has used their services and he came away with the feeling that they pushed surgeries irrespective of quality of life. The costs I know are insane. It looks like my plans to look for a place to buy next year will be put on hold but I'm okay with that.

So far today I've spent the day lounging around. I even slept in until 10 a.m.!! I finished knitting something I was making for Neil, I started something for me, I uploaded some pictures... I've been taking it easy. No car, no errands, no nothing to do. My mom did stop in with Anya for a bit, and we had a nice visit. She invited me out with her in case I had any shopping I need to do, but I declined, even though I really could have benefitted. Hey, tomorrow is another day! It's a no-cooking day, so we put a bag of ready fries in the oven for lunch. I managed to get the fries out of the oven at the perfect point, and they were de-lish. There wasn't quite enough mayo left, so I had a bit of salsa on the side as well. I think I'll try that again! Oh, I did go to the thrift store (but that's so close it doesn't count). I couldn't resist a tin and a ball of yarn, but I don't know why I felt I needed the yarn: I still have what I'll call a surprise bag* waiting for me to go through, and I know there's yarn in there. * In other words, I have no idea what's in there, but something at the top interested me enough to make me feel it would be worth a dollar and bringing home. Maybe I'll do an un-boxing later, maybe I'll do it tomorrow. That reminds me of something odd I want to report: A couple of weeks ago, I was reading the obituaries and saw that a former neighbour, Agnes, had died. I was disappointed that I'd read about it too late to go to the funeral--I'd have liked to tell her daughters that I felt lucky to have known her. She was the kind of grandmotherly lady that every kid dreams of having next door: baking cinnamon buns for us, setting out snacks for the children with all her best linens, saving seeds and sprouting them in washed-out egg shells (magic!), asking me over for five minutes' out of the house after everyone was tucked in. After her husband died, she sold her house and moved into the city for greater convenience and to be closer to her children. After all, she was an elderly lady then, and that was fifteen years ago! We stayed in contact for a bit, but it was far away and I was busy, and we lost touch. Then, just a couple of days after reading of her death, I was in the superfluity shop and bought a stationary box of sewing tat. I thought there were some buttons in there that might be promising, and there was a zipper I could use to fix a skirt for my daughter (oops, I've still not done that). It was one of those 'all or nothing' deals, so I ended up with the whole thing. Sorting through it at home, separating out and organising the bits of trim and other contents, which I was well pleased with, I found a yellowed and frayed newspaper clipping at the bottom. Finding things like that always interest me, so I opened it up to see what someone had troubled to save. It was an obituary for Agnes' husband. I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions, as I must do. ~~~~~~~~~~ By the time evening rolls around, I will probably feel like doing something, so maybe I'll make a big pan of spicy mash later on. Maybe I'll even walk to the store and buy some beef sausages. Then I can come in from the cold and warm up. I could un-box my surprise bag while dinner is cooking. Or maybe I won't bother. At this point, ça m'est égal. |

Here is the question. I need to create a simple photography website for one of my clients. The catch is that he wants to be able to upload pictured by himself. What would be the best program to use for this project? I was thinking a wordpress, this way my client can log in as an admin and upload the pictured, but wordpress has very limited design features, so I am wondering if there is something else I can use. Thank you. |

Hi guys, I have a client who needs a database. I hvae never done it before and was wondering if there is an easy way to create following:
- The ability for the following options for sign-up/payment: by the day, week, month, or season. Selling on daily or time-basis needs to be fully automated. The user will be making purchases, and immediately should have access to the picks. We need to easily split it up between NFL/college/NBA, etc…, and sell access to just one area, or all.
- Our users need to be email-notified when their subscriptions are about to expire (for season passes or long-term options)
- We need to have full and easy content-management access to the site. We will need to be able to simply go to the site from any computer, log in with our admin credentials, and hover the mouse over the area we want to change, click a button, and type in the new picks. And save the picks just as easy.
Fully automated site. We just want to go to the site to change picks, and let everything else be automatic. Our money would need to be deposited into our paypal account, so we will need that set-up as well. Also, how much would you charge for the website like this? Thank you very much for your time! |

I just buried my boys, Houdini (Aristobulous Rodentipus Shadeling the First) and my wee Shadow (Nicodemus Rodentipus Shadowling the First) out in Raven's back yard. I know that no matter what happens, they have this permanent space to rest in, where little (should) be happening to the land, and where it (should) have the same owner(s) for quite some time. I am extremely grateful for this place to house my little babies in a safe place, for good, and am also really glad to know that they're now buried in an area which is okay w/death, and which is friendly to spirits of many different types. I hope that no matter what happens with me here, they will always have a friendly place to lay (and, perchance to play), and that if they do exist somewhere near here on this plane, that they are happy, well, free of any sadness, pain, fear or discomfort. Maybe somehow they also finally understand how much they were loved and adored, and how much their rat-mommy is going to miss them.... Maybe if they're nearby somewhere in the spirit world and can make a visit, I'll have a little rattie-ghost or two sitting atop my shoulder(s), nibbling my ear(s) and letting me know they might miss me, too... (Or perchance, we might get a few visitors taunting the living kitties here, now that my boys can no longer be hurt? ;):)) I just hope that now that they've gone, they somehow know that they were loved, and that they're not afraid of me anymore... :\ * * * Love Love Love to my two little Wee Ones: My adventuresome, outgoing, loving & loyal li'l Shadsy-boy, and my shy-but-always-gentle, visually impaired, darling li'l Houdey-Houds... ♥♥♥ "Mom"
